Latest Updates from Our Project:

December Update - Writing & Art Direction Progress
over 2 years ago – Mon, Dec 06, 2021 at 04:14:33 PM

Hello Wastelanders!

Welcome to December, and the latest update from the Weird Wastelands Kickstarter! Let's get right into it - this update is going to be brief, as most of the work is happening in the background.

Writing. The WebDM team is crafting everything about the apocalyptic magic that stirs within the wastes, and they're making some great progress. We're looking at "Manuscript Complete" by the end of January. For right now, this means we're on track for that March, 2022 delivery of the first full PDF!

Art. Ooo it's a pretty book. There's a lot of art direction that needs drafting yet, though. The WebDM and 2CG teams have put together 77 of the ~100 art direction drafts for our small army of artists on this project, but we don't have anything to share just yet. We'll start shipping caravans of art to you as soon as we start getting it!

Current Project Status Estimates

Next-Steps

The next Kickstarter update will be Sunday, January 16, or earlier.

We're hoping to have some great art to share in the next update, and should be nearly finished with the writing of Weird Wastelands - again, wonderful work from the WebDM team on the truly massive amount of writing needed for an RPG setting book.

As Always,

If there are ever questions, comments, or concerns, please let us know via comments or direct messaging! Thank you again!

May the dice ever roll in your favor,

December Update - Alt Cover Sneak Peak
over 2 years ago – Mon, Nov 01, 2021 at 11:58:37 PM

Happy Halloween!

It's time for the latest monthly progress updates on the Weird Wastelands project! We've been chugging away in the writing, design, administration, and artwork, but it's mostly in draft-form at the moment, so nothing quite yet to share except:

Weird Wastelands - Deluxe Alt Cover Concept

We've been back and forth with Mr. Wayne Reynolds to get a unique, stylized, and character-focused art piece showcasing adventurers in the Wastelands, and are very excited for the concept work thus far:

Weird Wastelands - Deluxe Print - Alternate Cover Concept

Unlike most of the artists we've worked with in the past, Mr. Reynolds works in traditional medium, rather than digital - this painting will *actually* exist in meatspace, something very unusual for the 2CGaming art team. We're very excited about how this is coming along but it'll be a slow process.

If the early concept is enough to change your mind about the Deluxe Print - let us know via Kickstarter Message or email to [email protected] - we'll work with you to modify the order through Backerkit.

The books is going to be beautiful - lots of art direction being developed every day, but we need to get that out of the way before we can start delegating, expect some significant art and writing updates on the next one!

Weird Wastelands Project Completion Estimates

Next-Steps

The next Kickstarter update will be Sunday, December 5, or earlier.

We'll have some update art included in the next update, and should be well over halfway done with the writing of Weird Wastelands - great work from the WebDM team on the truly massive amount of writing needed for an RPG book.

As Always,

If there are ever questions, comments, or concerns, please let us know via comments or direct messaging! Thank you again!

September Update - Work Continues!
over 2 years ago – Tue, Sep 14, 2021 at 10:08:46 PM

Hello hello! It's time to get started with our (slightly delayed) monthly progress updates on the Weird Wastelands project! We've been chugging away in the writing and design, the Web DM and 2CGaming teams working hand in hand to bring you the best in concept and design for any and all your post-apocalyptic needs!

Backerkit

Surveys have been sent, and mostly answered - thank you! If you have any questions on anything in Backerkit, please reach out and we'll work to resolve it as fast as possible!

Beyond That...

We'll keep this update pretty short at the moment - we've been heads down in writing, design, and administrative work (scoping the art, mostly!), but these monthly updates should serve to provide loose metrics for the project's continued progress and substantive updates when we have them regarding art, writing, and all the other great content we're working on for the project!

Weird Wastelands Project Completion Estimates!

Next-Steps

The next Kickstarter update will be Sunday, October 31, or earlier.

We're expecting to see some significant progress on both the art and writing by the end of October - most of the writing and art strewn to the four corners of our art list to gather the best for desolate wastelands and eons-gone destruction!

As Always,

If there are ever questions, comments, or concerns, please let us know via comments or direct messaging! Thank you again!

Backerkit Surveys
over 2 years ago – Tue, Aug 03, 2021 at 11:59:25 PM

Backerkit

We’ve opened up the “smoke test” of Backerkit surveys, sending the surveys out to a random subset of 5% of backers to catch any last-minute issues. The rest of the surveys will open Wednesday, August 4th, at 10:00am EST!

Through Backerkit, you’ll be able to adjust your pledges, add any add-ons you’re interested in, download your files, and update your shipping information for those books once they’re finished!

If there are any issues, please reach out and we’ll work to address them as quickly as possible—Kickstarter comments, emails to [email protected], or contact through the Backerkit support option are the best ways to reach us quickly!

Writing & Development

Writing is rapidly underway, with the art budgeting and artist selection in progress (thanks to several supporters of the Web DM team for reaching out with your art! We’re very excited to work with you on the project).

Starting next update, we’ll be periodically showing you our project progress report, which shows high-level estimates on project development, writing, art, formatting, and fulfillment. We’ll also be sharing art updates and substantive writing progress. Stay tuned!

Thank you again! As always, if you have any questions about the project or about anything we do at Web DM, don’t hesitate to contact us via comments, Kickstarter messages, or social media/YouTube.

Next Steps!
almost 3 years ago – Mon, Jul 12, 2021 at 06:02:10 PM

Did you feel that shift? As civilization ended and began a new age in the Weird Wastelands, we have entered the post-Kickstarter era on this book! Thank you all SO MUCH for your support on this project! You have blown us away with your enthusiasm, and we can’t wait to finish developing it and share it with you.

The Kickstarter may be over, but our work is just getting started! We wanted to share what the next steps on the project are from here on out.

Backerkit

Backerkit will be live on or before JULY 25th and you will be able to increase your pledge or add on anything you like! Late pledges will also be open at that time.

Writing and Art

Writing for this project is already underway by Jim, Pruitt, and Emma! We are working with Celeste Conowitch and the rest of the 2CGaming team for mentoring and editing as we continue to develop the project. Art needs are currently being scoped, and, thanks to your support of our final stretch goal, we are going to be able to do a LOT to bring incredible post-apocalyptic visuals to our pages! We will give you regular updates on our progress, with updates coming out every four to five weeks at minimum.

Our next Kickstarter update will be in mid to late August.

Thank you again! As always, if you have any questions about the project or about anything we do at Web DM, don’t hesitate to contact us via comments, Kickstarter messages, or social media/YouTube.

May the dice ever roll in your favor,
